Blog Recommendation – Art History Mom

Creating FineArtMom.com has opened up a whole new world for me.  I was never really a blog reader or spent much time on the internet in the past besides looking something up here and there or getting lost in Facebook.  A couple of months ago I never would have thought I’d be sitting here creating a blog post – but here I am.  I may be late to the party, but I’m quickly becoming friends with WordPress.

I plan to share my art, art with my daughter, other art moms, art blogs, etc. that I find noteworthy.  I look forward to my time on the weekends to see who else is out there and see what fantastic people and resources I can find.  I get really excited when I find other “fine art moms” out there sharing information about art for kids.

So here’s my first recommendation of another blog that is a great Art History resource for kids.  Take a look at ArtHistoryMom.com:

This is a fantastic blog created by Kristen Nelson.  Beautifully written with excellent teaching points for small children.  My daughter and I devoured each post.  I can’t wait for another.  I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

As a matter of fact, I’m inspired to take a trip to see the Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer before she leaves the states.  She is currently on display at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.  Her next stop will be The Frick Collection in New York in late October.  I think I need to check my calendar :o.

I can’t wait to meet this lady and then the next lady on my list is…

It’s always been one of my dreams to travel to Paris to visit the museums and soak up the art. I’m glad that when I finally get the chance, I’ll be enjoying that trip with my family. My daughter is in for a treat!

I’m looking forward to brushing up on my art history with my daughter on Art History Mom before then!
